I understand for the newly pregnant mother it sinks in very quickly, it did with my girlfriend.

Im just wondering about any fathers out there, when did it start feeling real for you? feeling the bump? seeing the scan? when you first held your baby in your hands?

Would also be very interested in hearing from anybody with an opinion.

To be honest , it didn't sink in until he was delivered.
As a Man, I saw all the changes, felt the baby kicking inside my wife's belly, the ultrasound, and all the prenatal classes, UB gynocology, baby showers etc.
But nothing, and I mean nothing sunk in until that moment he cried for the first time. It was that moment for me anyway that told me I am a father and my life has changed forever....and not one regret.

After my son was about 3 months old. Its seems like it didnt kick in that we were actually parents but now we definitally know. LOL It is different for people when they will have that feeling. I just think the older you are the more you can feel it. We are young parents well were not old now but you know what I mean its like I couldnt believe it, it felt weird that I was responsible for this lil baby. But it sank in and I have loved it for the past 4 1/2 years. He is my world. It will come soon. Being a parent is the most wonderful thing you could ever be in this world. Have fun with it.

For most men they realize it when the woman starts gaining weight and then with the ultrasound, but it doesn't really sink in until they hold the baby for the first time. Sometimes it doesn't even sink in until they are home and helping change diapers and feeding the baby and getting up in the middle of the night with the baby.

I think with my husband that it really sunk in when the baby first moved. I was lying in bed reading and all of a sudden the covers just flew up (just a litle). He looked over and said "what was that??" It was our baby. It felt like he jumped in my belly. From that night on he kicked his daddy in the back every night.

For my ex-husband (the father of my children) it never sank in. But for you who has a brain and a heart it will feel real to you at a doctors appointment, fixing the nursery, or not until you meet your baby at the hospital. But it will happen.
