The internet is a powerful tool as we have become well aware. "Trust" as defined by Webster is "Trust, the willingness to accept one's power on another.
So if you look at this from, say a sociological perspective, are you comfortable allowing someone the "power" to influence you in any given way. Are you comfortable with revealing factual information with individuals you've never physically met (web friends are typically individuals we have no physical contact with). If you are not, then perhaps you've answered your own question. ^-^

Only to a certain point...I mean they COULD be lying about almost anything if you've never spent any actual time together...I guess it just depends on the situation.....I would just be very wary if that's the only means of communication that you have between you.

it depends, i do have a couple of friends who i really trust and met them here, now the things is more than a computer.

If you mean trust them with something like...knowing your pets name, then yeah sure.
Name, address, telephone number, bank account number, social security number and the ten things you fear the most......no way.
