No. The A/C compressor and the furnace are two separate units. They only share the air ducts.

You mean replace with a new unit or you are taking the AC out completely.?

In either case, you have to do nothing to the heating unit. The A frame is inside the air circulating housing that feeds the plenum work.
If you are removing, the A frame does not hurt being left in there. Just seal the inlet pipe with a cap.

If you are replacing, you need the A frame anyway for the new unit. If this is a DIY job, make sure you know how to charge the gas.

You propose replace with a sparkling unit or you're taking the AC out thoroughly.? In both case, you should do no longer some thing to the heating unit. The A body is contained in the air circulating housing that feeds the plenum artwork. if you're eliminating, the A body does no longer damage being left in there. purely seal the inlet pipe with a cap. if you're replacing, you pick the A body besides for the recent unit. If this is a DIY interest, make positive you understand a thanks to value the gasoline.

While you can replace just one, I have heard it is better to replace both.

The advice I have been given several times is that HVACs are integrated systems, and the efficiency and effectiveness of each part is highly dependent on the rest of the system. It makes sense, if your furnace is not able to move the air around the house effectively, then your AC will have to work twice as hard to cool your house.

If you can afford it, I would consider getting both replaced.

if heat pump, then yes. if gas and electric vapor compression, then maybe not. the air handling is the same for both but the evaporator inside the central unit is separate from the heating function.

So it comes down to whether it is a heat pump or not.

If it's heat pump you would have to replace the whole unit.

Why are you replacing the a/c unit? If it is because of age and the rest of the system is the same age, yes.
