It's just the way it is. I'm 41, an some people act like I'm old as dirt. But then older people say "O, you're so YOUNG!" It's a matter of perspective.

It reminds me of a line in an episode of "That 70s Show." Red was talking to Hyde's father. Steve's dad (played by Robert Hayes) was saying how he wanted to be "friends" with Steve. Red responded "Why do you want to be FRIENDS with a 17-year old??? They're IDIOTS..."

Because kids today are to busy with themselves. I feel the same way. Now, I'm 49 I grew up surfing, having parties, etc. Kids see me as this old person. Well I may be older then they are but I can still catch a wave or two....Don't get mad about it. Oh, and it's got nothing to do with gender.

Probably because the media try to portray all middle age men as perverts or pedophiles.I know it's unfair, but the way they have done makes all young people think that all the older guys are pervs.

It's because most young people associate people of your age as having been running things for a while, and if you take a look around the country, it would appear that past generations have dropped the ball. "I don't like what you've done to this planet that I've inherited!" they think. "What the hell are we supposed to do with this s@#$ now!" Don't take it personally.

in my experiences, when older people are disrepected, it's usually because they have been the first to show disrespect. i show someone the same amount of respect as they show me, no matter what age, sex, religion, etc...and americans do teach their children this value.
