Its a conspiracy. They want you to spill most of the product so that you will have to buy more.

A solution to this delima is available, camp fuel that is used in stoves, lanterns etc.. comes in a container that is similar sized. Coleman and I am sure other outdoor companies make a screw on spout for the cans for filling purposes. You can probably find one at wal mart or target even.

The container must be metal (plastic is not compatible with these solvents) and the somewhat square shape is the cheapest to manufacture

In the original design, the containers were never meant to be full - to allow ease in pouring. Dunno what happened down the line - people got more educated, focused on cost savings and other measures, and end up doing impractical things like overfilling smaller cans.

It stocks on the store shelves easier. Round cans take up a lot of space and tend to look messier since it's almost impossible to line them up.

So it is easier to stack/pack the boxes in cartons while carrying from factory-to-distributor-to-store.
