He is the best player of his generation and Materazzi doesn't have the right to even look up to Zidane. Besides, I don't believe any word that Materazzi says since he is a dirty player by nature (ask Argentina's Juanpi Sorin).

Zidane shouldn't have done what he did, period. There really was no excuse for that brutal head butt. A push or a shove back to Materazzi maybe, but for him to have turned around on his opponent and attack with intent to injure...sorry, no excuse.
He ruined the game completely, and he will for me, be a tarnished football player - no matter how brilliant he was with the ball.
If this was an Italian player that did that, he would have been hanged, and not welcomed with open arms, as Zidane was.
If I was French I would feel nothing but shame for his actions; he let down his team and left them hanging in a crucial match for the World Cup - that says it all doesn't it? How selfish is that. Sorry, that's jerky behaviour, and not one that should be rewarded with sympathies, and cries of 'woe is me'.
If you are not man enough to handle the insults (and let's face it, verbal insults are RAMPANT in all sports), then get off the field my friend- you deserve the loss.
See, that's the one thing to admire about athletes: being able to absorb verbal attacks, and let them slide off you. So, if you lose your cool, you lose respect. It's that simple.

FACT
How about Zidane? 14 red cards in 17 seasons- including A 5 GAME SUSPENSION FOR AN EARLIER HEADBUTT
Zidane and France are cheating animals. France and French people are the BIGGEST CRY BABIES OF THE WORLD.

I was surprised only because it was his last game and that he would finish his career getting red carded. I would expect more out of a veteran to keep his cool especially considering that it was the world cup final. I mean just because this happened in the final everyone is making it too of a big deal. Not much was said when Del Rossi elbowed McBride or how about when Rooney stepped on the Portuguese player (I think you know where). All these players got what they deserved. These fouls is what make part of this game just like every other sport.

yes zidane is arrogant and violent , it's not the first time he acts with violence. I think he got something like 14 red cards in career. Someone should stop him many years before and forbid him to play football that way.

Well, a lot has been said about it but I still believe that a player of his class should have kept his cool and answered Meterazzi and company with his magical play. I am sure Zidane himself must be cursing that stupid thing he did in the field.

Zidane's arrogance is just a poor excuse used by that a$$hole Materazzi to try to justify what he said, because he knows that he's got no excuse and he did it because he's an animal.

Zidane rocks....and for christ sakes the man is only human. Yes people in those positions have more responsibility when it comes to controlling emotions and actions...but I mean come on... as much as he might think he is...he's no god lol He's not the first and he won't be the last professional sportsman to lose his cool And we have to admit...the Italians play nasty. They're good...but nasty!
