First of all, Craig is wrong. You don't determine whether a guy is a ballhog or not by just looking at assist numbers. Some of the biggest ball hogs in the game rack up the assists. Why? Because they force it into the lane and occasionally kick it out for wide open looks only when they get into serious trouble. For instance, when Jerry Stackhouse led the league in scoring as a Detroit Piston, he averaged about 5 assists per game, which is pretty darn good considering he was kind of a ball hog. But, that was only because guys would be wide open because opposing teams knew he wouldn't pass. Then on the occasions he would, they'd have a wide open shot.

The real way to determine whether a guy is a ball hog is to look at his field goal percentage. That's how you determine whether a guy is taking high percentage shots or not. Dwayne Wade shot just under 50% from the field this past season and about 60% from the field during the playoffs. That's amazing for a two-guard, which indicates that he doesn't take low percentage shots.

However, the other way to determine whether or not he's a ball hog is to look at his turnovers and more specifically his assist-turnover ratio. Be careful when looking at this, though, because in Wade's case, he has to handle the ball a LOT, which of course would dramatically increase his chances of turning it over.

Still, he's notorious for turning the ball over. 4.2 in 2004-2005 and 3.6 in 2005-2006. Plus, he averaged between 3-4 during this last playoff run.

So, is he a ball hog? I'm not sure I'd go so far as calling him a ball hog, since handling the ball so much and attacking is what the coach tells him to do. When Kobe had Shaq he was certainly a ball hog, because he would score outside of the set offense. Often plays would be called for other players and he would just disregard the coach's orders. Wade isnt' like that. That being said, he certainly has some room to improve as far as taking care of the ball goes. And, since he can improve in that area (as well as developing a more consistent three point shot) it's downright scary how good he might be by the end of his career.

Honestly the numbers dont lie, its your opinion and no one elses, you can sit there, and yell at the TV every time he takes a shot becuase he didnt pass it up. Would you rather have Dwade take the shot or Udonis Haslem? Dwade. Dwade or Antoine Walker? Dwade. Dwade or Jason Williams. Dwade. And who do the heat themselves WANT to take the shot. Dwade, even over shaq. You cant complain, you mean nothing to the organization. He averages 7 assists a game. And im sure he's not even trying to get that number. I gaurentee you if he tried he would be in double digits every night. Look at his team. and look at wade he doenst need to pass. You are an idiot for even thinking something like that.

Check his assist numbers - he definitely passes the ball.

For all those times he drives the lane, can you blame him? He gets more phantom calls than anyone since Jordan, so why not challenge defenders when he gets the chance?

well he does get some assists in games so that means he passes it at the right time to get his team points.

Why pass it? He is a one man team. I am a die hard Mavs fan, born and rasied in D-Town. But they need to give him ALL 15 rings.
