most major universities have a music department. the best ones are Juliard and Berklee, but they are very difficult to get in to. If you want to major in music education, U of Wisconsin is very good.

b. you can major in lots of things - performance in violin, music theory, composition, music education. you will take classes in violin, full orchestra, music theory, music history, ear training, composition, etc.

c. piano lessons will help a lot if you want to major in music. you will be required to play piano for music theory classes, and knowing chord structures that you learn in piano is a huge help. you wont have to be a great player, but the basics you learn there will help everything else.
