Did they create another race of man whose ancestors may still be around today?

It is very likely they mated. And as for another race, they would more likely exist today as merely a collection of traits which are occasionally passed around. Like minorly different skull structure, or heavier bones, or a slightly altered rib shape. Things that would seem within norms, but are actually inherited Neanderthal traits.

Yes, probably. Cro-Magnons and Neanderthals overlapped for around 7000 years after the Cro-Magnon arrival.

Bones have been discovered in Portugal and the Czech Republic which are intermediate between Homo sapiens (Cro-Magnon) and Homo neanderthalensis and are believed by some to be the result of interbreeding.

The subject remains highly controversial, and there are some palaeoanthropologists who believe we may be descended from such interbreeding.

However, the majority opinion remains that even if there was some admixture of the two species Neanderthals eventually became extinct and have made little to no direct contribution to the modern human gene pool.

it is unknown, yet we may be able to assume the answer is certain. both the Cro-Magnon and Neanderthals coexisted for 10,000 years contained in the middle East, Europe and west Asia. both were cavemen. So let's examine out issues by their eyes. no count number who you prefer to mate with, Cro-Magnon or Neanderthal, your romantic significant different hasn't bathed their body or brushed their tooth, wears unwashed animal skins, and is roofed in fleas and lice. Does it quite count number which species they belong to ?
