I am a native Texan and I love my state. The points you made for it are all valid and stand on their own. We do have a bit of anything and everything one could hope to enjoy. Perhaps I love it so much because I was born here and I do love participating in the things which seem to symbalize our state. From high school football to rodeos to weekend BBQ's. Not to mention a great array of outdoor activities. I do admit it does get a bit warm here in late July and August but our winters are mild in comparison to the northern climates. Our history is one full of proud traditions and moments. Admiral NImitz is from Texas along with Audie Murphy two of Americas biggest heroes during WW2. I am rambeling now but I will close and just say I love Texas. "GOd Bless Texas."

The biggest reason that people dispise Texas and Texans is because they don't understand us...we are a breed apart, a unique group of individuals that stand together in the face of adversity, heritage driven, and Texas Proud. All that you wrote is correct and there is not another state that can stake these claims.
Come to our state and see what Texas Friendly is really all about and ya'll will be back. Do you want a snap-shot of Texas? If so, follow this link....http://www.traveltex.com/
There is more to us then just the Dallas Cowboys, Houston Texans, Houston Astros, Texas Rangers, and San Antonio Spurs.....we have "real" cowboys, the best BBQ in the World, the World's Largest Rattlesnake Round-up (Sweetwater), W.A.S.P. National Museum (Sweetwater), The Alamo and all the Spanish Missions (San Antonio), miles and miles of beautiful scenary, oil wells and old time derriks, some of the best colleges and universities in the world, and finally, Friday Night High School Football ( this is a semi-religious experience with both 6 Man and 11 Man Football). These are just a few of our reasons to come to Texas......Discover the rest on your own.......

I love that you asked this question!! I was born and raised in Texas, lived here my whole life. But my husband has been relocated and now we have to move to Kansas. Nothing against Kansas, but it's.... ya know, KANSAS!! I'm actually really excited, but I'm sad to be leaving my home.
kc ~ Have you actually *been* to Texas or did you just watch a movie where everyone from Texas had big hair and a cowboy hat?? People love that stereotype, but if you've ever been here you would know that it's not really like that. And Y'ALL is a word... it's a contraction ("you" + "all" = Y'ALL). It's in the dictionary and it's a lot easier to say than "you guys".
Oh, and I don't like Dubya either. Didn't vote for him for governor and sure as heck not for president.

If it was so bad why people always migrating here, and never leaving. We have much love and open arms for everyone, and y'all better not forget it. By the way I'm black and we definitely don't wear big hair.

Only ignorant morons who think we ride horses and wear cowboy hats and have big hair *cough* hate Texas.
I don't like Bush and I'm from Texas, but it's a great state none the less. The cultural diversity is the best part.

Texas is great, its Texans that I struggle with!
Two things are true about Texans
1. News of their achievements is untainted by reticence
2. They never underestimate their own importance

I don't hate Texas
I'm not a fan but I liked their earlier stuff... 'I Don't Want A Lover' etc.
I haven't been so keen on anything since 'Black Eyed Boy' though.
For me, it all went downhill after 'Black On Blonde'
Their last song 'Sleep' (I think it was called) was good though.
Still... a good Scottish band

Reasons why people hate Texax:
- Cowboy hats are ugly
- Big hair went out in the 80's
- Y'All isn't a word
The fact that it is home of George Bush is NOT a point in its favor.
