In the fall and winter it gets cold so they grow fur to keep them warm.. and when its spring and summer they shed b/c of the heat.. we also shed a little of our hair during fall.. i know that its weird .. its like that we are loosing warmth on our head and gaining it is summer..!!..lol..

they do because like a snake they grow new fur under their top fur if they didn't shed their fur would keep growing adding wait to their body and they would get really hot.It's like if you wore a big fur coat on a hot day, you'd take it off.
