It is spelled bidet and is French in it's origination.

It's also sometimes called the rich man's garden hose.

I've wondered if the French actress Bridget Bardot uses a Bidet? Nah, I don't really want to visualize that. :-)

It may look like a toilet but it is actually compared more to a washbasin or a sink.

Bidet. Not many people in North America use them. My parents had one and I put gold fish in it for a joke.
