This is the best time for dealing with that problem since more and more of us are sending large files and looking for safe, free options to do so, the internet has responded...and there are more and more places offered, each day.
The one that's probably the most popular is
YouSendIt:
http://www.yousendit.com/
But it's certainly not your only option....there's also:
Sendthisfile:
http://www.sendthisfile.com/?rc=largefile
TransferBIGfiles.com
http://www.transferbigfiles.com/Default.aspx
If you'd prefer to upload your file to a free hosting site, and let the recipient go there to retrieve it, then you're also given several great options!
SendSpace - (my favorite)
http://sendspace.com/
Putfile -
http://www.putfile.com/
MyFileHut
http://myfilehut.com/
Dropload
http://www.dropload.com/
and many others....you get the idea...and these should get you off and running!

Yeah, try different email accounts.
www.gmail.com
www.hotmail.com
www.yahoo.com
As far as I can tell, those are the three main ones, and each have reasonable upload rates for sending large files. My advice is to try gmail, but you'll need an invite. Otherwise, look for somewhere on the web where you can upload files, and get your friend to log in as you to download whatever the file is. Or you could try using a USB Data port drive thingo... Or burning it to CD or something... I'll just stop talking now.

If your Internet provider gives you unlimited bandwidth, then you can send large files for free. Easiest method should be using MSN or Yahoo IM programs. Emails are not good for sending large files over 100MBs

Use Torrent
or
FileFactory lets you host files up to 500MB for free. You don't have to register and there is nothing to download. All files are uploaded through your browser.

ftp
email
post it on your website for download
put it on the gnutella network (preferably encrypted), and give the recipient the SHA1 signature for it (and the decrypt key).
Put it on a CD or DVD and have someone who is going there anyway take it.
