It is possible that it is overheating. Does it seem very hot? Is the fan running constantly? If so, do not leave it on your lap as you may be blocking some of the airflow it needs. If it is overheating then it will not restart until it cools off a bit.

Check your battery, could be faulty or even your power supply and cable.

make sure your battery works or get a new computer!
