How about some good fish and chips for cheap, and where can I get good pub food at a reasonable price?
Any and all suggestions along that line are welcome. Here in Maine a pint of microbrew averages about 4$...
Can you buy ales and beers in 6 packs in London to take back to the hotel?

Does 70 pounds per day NOT INCLUDING hotel or travel sound like a reasonable amount to get by on?

This may not answer with any precision, but it may be fun to know. Their is an age old expression that goes, "a pint's a pound the world around."

Take the local beer price and divide by the ounces served, then multiply by 16 to get the pint price for local beer. Take that price and convert it to Brittish Pounds Sterling and you got the price estimate; multiply it by 0.5449 for GBP. That would put the Pint in London at about 2.18 GBP.

I don't know if they are using the Euro's now. Multiply the local pint price by 0.791.

Haven't been in London in 11 years. I don't remember any bad places to eat, but for really good food in London, fly to Ireland. :-))

I brought back Smithwicks and Bass from Ireland. If you can't bring bottled beer into a Hotel, how would you pack it in your luggage to bring it back?

70 GBP is $128.41 (USD). Depending on how cautious you are about spending is how well it will last. Try to work the smile and American charm to get free beers from locals and hide the folding money till you absolutely have to use it. Last day spend it all!

Sussex is extreme priced. A pint of cider expenses £2.40 (6%) and a pint of tangible ale as a lot as £2.50 (below 5%). There are scam pubs that would charge extra. the city of London replaced into once same or extremely more low-cost than Sussex very last century, yet this would now have replaced as London has prospered and Sussex has not. not paid £3 for a pint everywhere yet! i imagine I listen of Guinness sneaking as a lot as £2.80 5.

Good question Suzie B! I'm off to London myself and would like to know that.

This page:

listed the prices from £2.24-£3.00 a pint. Not sure how current the prices are though. The good news is England uses imperial pints so that means 20 ounces rather than 16 as in Maine. woo hoo!

£70 per day is easily enough to get by on. London can cater for any budget practically, you will find that most bars and cafes in the tourist areas will charge more though.
