If you want to play with Linux, I recommend checking out BSD. It comes in a few flavors, here's the most popular:

That's a direct link to the download page. BSD installs like Linux - and it's been around longer. It can do everything Linux can do and more, and there's a lot of online support for it.

Oh, and you might want to try using it under a virtual PC before you install it on your full computer. Microsoft just made Microsoft Virtual PC 2004 SP1 free.
If you need help beyond that, then Linux is not for you. It's a powerful up-and-coming tool, but its not quite ready for prime-time...

obviously linux is better then windows and dos
becuse linux give antivirus facility. you don't need to install any other anti virus.and also for internet facility and more so linux better then window xp
NOW if you want to install linux it is so costly beteer install UNIX
which is same as linux.both os are same.so install unix it is open source.

you can have it on redhat.com but its not free dear
u had to pay $179 for that software on that site
