if you have a cellphone typically from cingular or tmobile ..
(and not sprint) call the cust service and ask for phone unlock code. they will provide you with a number.

punch in your phone and it is unlocked to use other carriers.

now with this phone go to spain , and look for a sim card compatible provider and buy the card/minutes. you are good to go.


PS look for triband/world phones thay are compatible.

if sprint , you are out of luck

It depends on your carrier agreement. It can cost you tho. I ended up paying for a monthly plan that gave me international rights because it was cheaper considering how many overseas trips I take. If this is your only time over there, don't bother with it, get a phone card.

yes, but you'll have to switch the band selection on your cellphone. since it's GSM 900/1800 in the US, and GSM 1900 in Europe. so make sure your cellphone has both

It depends on your cell phone coverage. My parents just brought their cell phone (Verizon) to China and were able to use it to call us... they just had to dial an international code to do it.

That would definately involve some roaming charges but you should be able to.
