It puzzles me when my friends, the people I know, and even myself always find a way to judge others even though we do not enjoy being judged and promise ourselves that we will not be judgmental.

You draw judgments because you are a rational being. Part of being a rational being is to try to categorize and understand things. To be able to predict and characterize the nature of a thing. The height of politically correct arrogance is the notion that we should not do the same with regard to each other. If you see two strange men approaching from the shadows in a bad part of town, leave. Leave quickly. Don't worry about offending what -might- be two honest people who just happen to be out walking. It's your rational mind drawing conclusions about probable motives, and it's not a bad thing at all.

If someone does not wish to be judged, they can work against the stereotype. Because there is another side to this. Initial impressions and judgments are there because they are all your mind has on which to base a decision. That's why people are so often saying, 'if you just get to know someone'. That phrase usually indicates that someone fits a stereotype in appearance but not in personality. And we are quick to revise as we learn about an individual.

But be aware, people control a great deal about their appearance, and therefore control much of how other people initially judge them. For example, take our two strange men again. Suppose they are dressed in well-fitting khakis and polo shirts. Suppose they are walking casually and talking to each other. One has car keys in his hand. Your initial impression is very different now. How a person presents themselves has a great deal to do with this. That said, some people seem to revel in putting people on the wrong footing with false appearances. It's an extremely juvenile act which typically proves nothing except in the mind of the person putting on the act.

I think we do not like to lose. We always want to survive. And the fact that others have the assumed advantage over us puts us at an uneasy stance because we do not like to change and we'd prefer everything to stay the same because this ensures stability in our lives.

So we judge people usually giving the negative verdict on the judged/

Because we can! Why make promises to yourself that you can't keep? That's like living a lie, not being true to yourself. It is also called 2 faced, or hypocrite. If the shoe fits, wear it.
