Brian's mother is never actually referred to by name in the film, though in the script she is down as 'Mandy'. Brian's surname is Cohen, although early in the film, Mandy announces 'your father isn't Mr Cohen'. We can assume that Mandy wasn't married him, as she wouldn't refer to him as 'mister', so her surname is a mystery. Python fans and academics, however, have settled on Cohen as a valid surname, by means of easy reference.
