10 to 25% of all clinically reconized pregnancies will end in miscarriage. Most occure during the first 13 weeks. Most often the cause can not be identified. During the firs trimester the most common cause is chromosomal abnormalities which are faulty egg or sperm cell or due to a problem at the time the zygote went through the division process. Other reason can be hormonal problems, infections or health problems in the mother.
Life styles- smoking, drug use, malnutrition, excessive caffine and radiation
Improper implantation , maternal age and maternal trauma.
Factors that are not proven to cause miscarriages are sex, working outside the home unless it is in an unsafe enviroment or moderate excercise.

Usually a miscarrige cannot be stopped or started by anything you do in your everyday world. Now a fall, or riding rollercoasters, horsback riding and the such is not a good idea and should be avoided. But if you're going to have a miscarriage its probably because of some gentic problem with the baby. But I wouldn't worry if I were you, Just use common sense and in a few months you will have a bouncing baby!

The majority of miscarriages result from random chromosomal abnormalities in the developing baby. An egg or sperm will fail to divide properly and end up with the wrong number of chromosomes to form a healthy human being. While sometimes a baby with specific chromosomal abnormalities can make it to birth, such as in the case of Down's Syndrome (trisomy 21), most of the time mistakes in the number of chromosomes leave the developing baby without all the genetic material he or she needs to grow, and this causes the baby to die in utero. Chromosomal abnormalities are not a result of failing to take your prenatal vitamins or bad dietary habits. They can happen to anyone -- and in most cases they're random anomalies and everything will most likely be fine next time. It's somewhat more statistically common for older mothers to have miscarriages due to chromosomal abnormalities, but frequently afflict younger mothers too. Again, it's no one's fault.

Everyone is giving you good answers. Stay away from aspertame (nutrasweet, diet pop, etc), alcohol, basically most over the counter drugs. Always ask your OB?GYN what you can take for a headache, nausea, etc. And it's ok to give in to the cravings every now and then, after all, chocolate is made from beans and therefore falls into the vegetable catagory, am I right? Congrats on your baby.

My physician instructed me I could drink a cup of liquid each a million/2 hour - water, carbonated water, or milk. you may ward off chemical components ordinarily (inclusive of MSG), and cigarette smoke and alcohol. additionally, do no longer exert your self - no longer with workout, or lifting something too heavy. There's the obvious stuff to avoid...alcohol, drugs, tuna, food with msg, punching yourself in the stomach, etc...
I'd suggest getting yourself some prenatal vitamins, if you haven't already. Everyone highly recommended those when my wife and I first found out she was pregnant. Apparently they can help prevent miscarages as well as birth defects.

My doctor gave me a list of foods and over-the-counter drugs. From what I remember, aspirin and aleve were totally off limits.
Your doctor should be able to give you a list.
Good luck.
