If you did it before, probably your problem is related to your CD.
There is no CD or your CD is not writable. (Perhaps a DVD instead of CD).
Did you put protection into your Photos?

It is very easy to copy images to a CD. The answer where the person said you need a VCD is totally wrong.
All you do is open your burning software and add the files you want to copy i.e. the photos.
Once listed just click on burn.
You can add any files to an ordinary writable CD-R or even a audio CD but as these are usually more expensive it's not worth it.
If you want to add files to the disc later then choose the "multisession" option in the burning software.

OK, did you make it on the same computer? With the same burner?
Usually, the option appears when you right-click the thing and select Send to -> [the cd-r/w drive]. But for that to happen, burning should be enabled for that drive - go to Windows Explorer, right-click on the device (burner), press Properties, and there locate the option, it's a checkbox, I think "Enable burning" or something like it. It may be in an advanced tab or button.

I am also using xp but my memory card only copies them to the hard drive. my software is HP and after they I in a folder I can edit them for brightness and things like that. I have a seperate program to create cd's. It sounds like something may have been deleted. You could try re-installing your photo software or if you know tha name do a file search and see if it is still on there.

With XP you should be able to copy straight to a blank disc simply by dragging and dropping to that disc.
Two assumptions:
1) You have a CD writer
2) You have a blank disc in the drive.
Go to your memory stick and press "ctrl+a" this will select all the pictures.
Press "ctrl+c" to copy those pictures
Go to your blank disk in your blank disc drive by navigating there using "My Computer"
Open the disc by double clicking it.
Press "ctrl+v"
This will paste the pictures
Now a balloon will open up saying you have temporary files to write.
You need to click the baloon and follow the instructions.

You may have turned off the XP function to burn to CD. go to your My Computer, open it, select your CD burner, right click on it and select properties and select the Recording Tab and put the tick in the radio button to enable burning on this drive. That should do it. Good luck!

And you must copy the folder, not just the pics. Make a folder with all the pics you want on the cd and you should be OK.

Silly but have you checked that the CD-R or CD-RW is not:-
FULL
-or-
Closed / Finalised
as in these cases you wont be able to write to it at all
