My strong suggestion from having 2 kids, now 9 and 14 yrs old....take the babe off the med! You need to see a herbologist. Their are many many natural cures that God created for our use when things go wrong with our bodies. Drugs either just cover up the symptoms or "forces" your body to do something that it is not ready to do. Look up on web links to natural cures and keep in mind, there is a reason the babe wont poop...maybe a lack of something that he needs...like fiber/water/ etc.. Did you try soy milk?

Sometimes it's due to the too early introduction of other baby food or juice. Sometimes it's unexplainable but none the less does happen. This child will be fine, just keep following doctors orders.
And yes my 11 year old has been that way since she was 3 Months, and still is and we are on miralax as well, even though she eats very healthy and drinks plenty of water.

Define constipated. It is normal for an exclusively breastfed baby to only have a BM once a week or less! After six weeks your milk loses the colustrum which works like a laxative. After the BMs diminish in number they should greatly increase in size. As long as his stools are soft and easy to expel there is no reason to have him on a medication. Do some research on this and you will see what I'm talking about, I would get a second opinion if this is the case.

Your baby is NOT messed up. He is a gift and does not have a "problem". Constipation is not unusual in infants and it sounds like you have the "issue" under control. You are a caring parent to take your child to a specialist. Do some more research and you will find that your baby is very normal, if not special! Bless you on your journey.

It sounds like something normal like my sister's baby had problems with constipation etc as well. You are doing the right thing by going to a specialist and having it checked out.

My son had constipation but it was not that serious. Prune juice always did the trick. You go on and hear what the specialist has to say. Its always good to be sure.

Its excellent that you are taking him to the dr. to be checked out. He could have an obstructed bowel. Better to have him checked out for this cuz it can be serious. On the other hand if they find no obstruction, he jsut needs a little help to become regualr. Follow your dr. advice.
