She has tried some ways to give a lighter color to her face and still suffering with no obvious result. Actually I do not care it but she cares and she secretly hopes she will get a white skin if she tries hard enough! I am caucasian, she is Chinese, we live in China. It's a kind of craze here, you are considered beautiful if you have white skin and big big big eyes. So funny. well, what is the best way to come out of this funny and sometimes boring situation? She asked me to post this queastion just because she can not wrire in English. Thank you all.

Wow. Why the hell would she want to change how she looks? She should be comfortable in her own skin and be proud and feel beautiful of how she looks. Natural beauty will always defeat. You should boost her confidence. Tell her she is beautiful and she doesn't need to change anything, and if she does, you will leave her..lol

Enough with this wishing you looked like someone else. It's stupid. She should be glad she has all her fingers and toes, and that she doesn't have any limbs missing, or that she can walk, and can see, (hopefully) and that she wasn't born poor and starving in Somalia or has AIDS.... so much to be thankful for...

Things could have been alot worse.

WOW Arthur, I totally understand this whole craze of wanting to have white skin, and white skin being more beautiful.

I myself have brown skin. It was only when I went over sees and saw people with white skin everywhere, that I came to love brown skin.

Tell your gf what an awesome person she is from the inside! WEll.. gosh I hope that helps :P

What do you really mean by the "brownish color" of her face? you are refering to Freckles? or just her color? since she is a chinese. normally chinese is "yellow". how can you turn "yellow" to "white"? oh, I know someone does, michael jackson from "black" to "white". And there goes for the size effect now. you should ask yourself, do you mind abt her color tone? if you dnt mind... just tell her that she is just beautiful as who she is now. Over doing of lightening the skin color might caused side effect and making the her skin really sensitive.. just becareful. erm.. maybe just b'cos you are caucasian and she wants to have the same skin color tone as you? encourage her and give her support that who she is and be proud.

She shoule embrace her natural beauty and not some trend.
If she must lighten her facial skin, a makeup in a couple shade lighter is better than putting chemicals on her face!
I do know that there is a lightening cream used for spots sold here I think it has quinine in it.

It is the same way with Vietnamese - my sister in law highlights her hair, stays out of the sun, and was told by her parents to marry a white boy to make the next generation whiter and taller. It is just their culture and what they view as successful/beautiful. Tell you girlfriend she can break that tradition right now with herself - be happy with herself and who she is and what she has to offer!
