Yes and no! House shores such as washing, hoovering etc. Sure take less time to do nowadays but on the minus side ... We all work long hours, travel more between home and work so time gained really doesn't make all that much difference! And in terms of automated answering services ... They take longer than the good old call to a person who would asnswer your questions quicker than automated answering services that simply keep asking you questions after questions before putting you through tp customer sevice (If you're lucky enough and they do). Then ... Drawing money from an ATM is quicker if not that good when you have a general query! So all in all it's Yes and No!!! Having said that!!! I wouldn't like to go back to old times and wash my laundry in the river !!!!

Hell no! But I don't know why! My mother washed all our clothes by hand, cooked meals from scratch, took the bus to do the shopping, but still had time to take us to the beach. She didn't go out to work, but she had the equivalent full-time job looking after 4 kids. Employers ask so much more of us these days - especially in the UK where we have fewer statutory holidays than in other European countries.

Definitely NOT as once you started to work out your new gadget, its already outdated and all the time you have spent learning it gone down the drain and now you have to catch up with mates who got an updated model of a new gadget/machine etc.

For some reason no. I can't work it out. Could it be that the traffic is horrendous now - too many cars on the roads - queues are longer - yellow lines, no parking spaces, I could go on but I don't have the time, sorry. Laugh

I think we create our own "spare time",it doesn't matter how automated machines or society have become. And it depends on what you do with with your "spare time" to make it meaningful to yourself. And what is "spare time" anyway?Time is Time.

I do since things like automatic washing machines, dish washers micro waves all give me more time to do what I like rather than what has to be done.
