I have had 3 c-sections and will have a 4th one with my present pregnancy. I had my first on 4/1995 and my second on 3/1997 without any complications. My 3rd was 9/2005 and was also complication free. My 4th will be 1/2007 and will hopefully be the same.
I went home 2 days after the surgery with all of mine. I was up the day after the surgery in the shower. It took me about a week to get where I could walk upright without any pain, but I also didn't take any pain medicine afterwards. You will be tender, but taking care of the little bundle of joy seems to make you forget about the pain.
Best of luck!

Things are much better today with medical technology, so I'd have to say it's possibly even something a doctor will shoot for. Many doctors will at least attempt a VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean) these days, but from what I hear, some doctors are still a little edgy about it for some reason. Some will still prefer that if you've had one c-section, you should have another. I've also heard other mothers say that each subsequent c-section is a little easier to recover from than the last one. I can't say it personally, as I haven't had one. Hopefully I won't. I will say that my mother had three c-sections, two of them were only a year and 16 days apart. They did advise her at the time not to have any more children, because after three a c-section is dangerous, but that was back in 1988, so it may have changed drastically by now.

Cesarean Sections are a part of western medicine. You can have several and suffer no ill effects. Remember that they are a surgery and every surgery has the chance for a bad outcome, but the fact is that there are a number of cases where women have been known to have 5 consecutive C-sections and still try to get pregnant. Medicine today offers you this chance, please don't at least consider the C-section as one of the most practiced and generally safe medical procedures we do today.
Recovery time is variable and it depends on the physical condition of the patient, their support back home and other factors like nutrition and exercise tolerance. If you did it before and you have no other health problems, it will take a number of weeks to get well and a while longer to recover completely.
Good Luck!

A second cesarean after 3 years gap is going to be fine only. Nothing against it as long as u r following doctors prescription & going for regular check ups. Draw back means u r going to put incision (cutting) in the abdominal wall to go up to uterus and that may result in weakening of the suture area becoz twice u have cut one thing and stitched . so at a later period incision hernia may occur . Its a remote possiblity that too after many years. so no need to worry. Recovery can be 4 to 6 weeks time . But the abdominal wall muscles to gain back strength it wil take atleast 6 months. Any way thats not going to cause u a problem. As u have already undergone one cesar section the same wil be happening now. So dont worry. Carry on .And what was the reason u went for cesarean section the previous time? because if that was due to small pelvis causing difficult normal delievery this time also the u cant go for normal labour. but the previous cesarean was for some fetal distress etc . . then now u have got an option to go in for TRIAL VAGINAL DELIEVERY. But if the obstretician feels its better to go for cesarean i think u have to go by the doctors judgement of the situation. good wishes.

Some woman can only have c sections, and the doctor will make the choice as to whether he has to deliver by c section or not. you won't have a choice, after a couple of weeks if everything is ok. But ya know what the best answer come from your doctor that knows you and has examined YOU.

My sister had four cesareans. Her oldest is 11 and youngest is 18 months. They cut in the same spot every time, and she had no complications.
You'll be fine.

you will heal faster from a scheduled c-section than if you labor and end up in a section. as far as i know there are no drawbacks ask your doctor though. the years in between is good it means your fully healed from the last one good luck
