Attacks on Lebanon after two of their soldiers were kidnapped by a Lebonese group not affiliated with the government. Attacks on Palestinians and capturing officials of the Palestinian government. Threats towards Syria (which Iranian president said would result in Iran declaring war on Israel). I feel Israel is overreacting to two kidnapped soldiers and it reminds me of WW2 when the Germans sent troops into Poland and had them fire at the German border to justify an invansion.

I don't know why they're being so heavy handed. It really does seem to be a bit much to destroy power stations, bomb the airport, and so on. They have the right to defend themselves, but this does seem to go beyond self defense.
I'm an American who is NOT cheering any of this. EACH side needs to stop it, NOW.

I agree with you that Israel is WAY overreacting, and ignoring the fact that it had a lot to do with starting the trouble that it is reacting to. When the Palestinians kidnapped the soldier, it was in response to the killing of random civilians (scores of them were children) by Israeli rocket fire. Then the Palestinians attacked a military target, and then Israel found that was reason enough to punish ALL of the citizens in the Gaza strip. The Lebanon thing seems to be a continuing thorn in the side of the Israelis. But it, again, seems like Israel is overreacting - Lebanon kidnapped 2 soldiers, Israel seems to think that is good reason to bomb the crap out of the country. Israel has already flown its warplanes over Syria... It is getting out of control.

Finally, the UN is going to meet about the crisis situation. My thought, though, is that it is probably going to be some 'poor Israel' attitude, when they are the aggressors. Sickening how this is progressing...

Thank You. Someone finally on the same page. Yes, two soldiers were taken hostage. Yes, in a way, Israel was attacked; but, not by the Lebanese government. It was by terrorist groups.

So, Israel bombs Lebanese runways for this. How stupid!

That is like saying I am going to fire the whole accounting department in my company because one person screwed up the bosses taxes.

It is disgusting and belligerent. The sad thing is, Americans are cheering as were are being dragged into another war.

I'm not concerned about what Israel is doing to its neighbors because its neighbors have been trying to do it to Israel first for 40 years now.

Your statement that Israel is doing something to get its soldier's back seems to imply that its a mere kidnapping. Well its not...I challenge your claim that Hezbollah is not "affiliated" with the government. First and foremost, organizations that break the law within a state are a primary responsibility of government...so tell me what did Lebanon do to curb Hezbollah? Nothing as far as I can see, so that means either the Lebanese government is not in control or that it condones the actions of Hezbollah, either way that says the Lebanese government has done nothing, so it is left to Israel to engage in self help.

Second, Hezbollah is certainly affiliated with Hamas, it is is no accident that it engaged in the same kind of activity (kidnapping Israeli soldiers) as Hamas. That's a show of solidarity with Hamas at least. In the game of international politics that's an indication of concerted action, alliance. Since Hamas has engaged in acts of war with Israel prior to the kidnappings and Hezbollah has shown it is aligne, allied or in solidarity with Hamas, it too is an armed combatant, as is Lebanon for not taking action against Hezbollah...ergo, Lebanon is now at war with Israel as is Palestine.

I hope the Israelis literally clean the floor with these two countries...and I will make sure that I show my support for them at every opportunity.

Hezbollah fighters operate with almost total autonomy in southern Lebanon, and the government has no control over their actions But Lebanon has long resisted international pressure to disarm the group.not just that lebanon is doing little to prevent them from firing rocket towards Isreal ,Hezbollah is known or suspected to have been involved in numerous terror attacks against the U.S., Israel or other Western targets, including the 1983 suicide truck bombings in Beirut that killed 241 U.S. Marines at the Marine barracks and 58 at the French military barracks ,do u know this ?
The United States and Israel say that Hezbollah is given financial and political assistance, as well as weapons and training, from Iran and Syria. Syria says it supports Hezbollah, but denies supplying it with weapons.

do u still think that Isreal should keep quite ?

Because the American people are blissfully unaware
of how $90 Billion of their taxes has gone to Israel to support their Barbarism:-
http://www.vestedowl.com/counterpoint_results.htm

A little History for you:-

Part of Palestine was given to the Jewish people after WW2, that was a big mistake because the Israelis then proceeded to throw out the Palestinians, the Palestinians have never accepted this, they have been terrorized by Israel, and now they fight with the only tools they have, throwing stones, and blowing themselves up, and setting off the occasional rocket.

The USA Supports the many atrocities commited by Israel:-

Israel has a lot of influence worldwide so only one side of the story is usually reported.

Recently Israel has siege Gaza, denying Palestinians electricity, destroying infrastructure, and making it a virtual prison,
As usual the Palestinians have fought against this oppression, and a group of them managed to capture an Israeli soldier.
The Israelis then proceeded to escalate their siege, and killing of Palestinians who had nothing to do with the Capture of the Israeli soldier, world leaders said nothing.
Only Hezbollah would stand up for the Palestinians, and they captured two Israeli soldiers. Then Israel decided to punish the whole of Lebanon, so now Hezbollah try to kill Israelis, and Israelis try to kill Lebanese.

The USA responce had been to blame Iran, and Syria, and it makes me wonder if this was their recent agenda all along - to create an excuse to attack another country.

Israel is a nation which has its history documented from its' very beginning and the land that Israel has today, is but a small portion of what they are going to have in the near future and which has been promised them to receive. The events happening in Israel, will eventually result in the Nation owning land as far east as the Euphrates River and as far north as the old city of Hamath. Israel today owns only a mere "slice" of what God Himself has promised for the Israelis to receive...and most certainly WILL receive. Everything is going exactly as the Bible has prophesised; and will with absolute certainty be fulfilled to the very last letter of Bible prophecy.

Terrorists are terrorists no matter where they hide...

I am glad Israel is hunting them down.

Hope they bag some more of them.

Scumbags constantly blow up stuff in israel, shoot rockets at them, and all for what.... some measily land they took from them THE LAST TIME THEY ATTACKED?

Why not get over it, Quit Blowing crap up, Kidnapping Soldiers, and shooting rockets among other things.. If they did this I might feel differently, but since they have no intention of doing so..

I say GO ISRAEL GO! KICK SOME TERRORIST ****!

WOOOT!
This american backs you up all the way =)

I'm sure some in the US are angry. But most of us recognize that Israel's neighbors are bullies and at some point they refuse to take it anymore. Israel just wants to be left alone to live in peace. The solution is really that simple. Germany wanted an excuse to empire build. Israel simply wants security. There are no similarities.

We are, haven't you heard of ralph nader and the green party they oppose isreal, the problem is that we give a huge amount of $'s to isreal and we would hate to see that goto waste by telling them to abandon their efforts to break the will of the palistinians there. The other side is obviouisly that every isreali goes into the army and if people are kidnapped they must show that there is not tolarance for those actions or the people of isreal would oppose going into military when turning 18
