No the baby is not going to fall into the toilet - that would be real hard especially if you are not in labor.
It is because you get hemorrhoids - and they suck!

I have never heard that before...and I thought I'd heard just about everything!

As far as I can see, there is no reason why you cannot sit on the toilet all day if you were so inclined. If you were straining to pass a bowel movement, you can increase the chance of hemorrhoids, but it is the straining, not the sitting. As far as the baby coming down or problems with water breaking...not an issue. So sit without worry :)

Unless you really have no feelings, like my MIL who never felt her labor and though the urges she had were to go to the bathroom and almost had my brother-in-law in the toilet (literally), I would not worry about having the baby in the toilet. If it were that easy and that painless, more babies would be born. Hemorrhoids is a major concern if you push too long because you are constipated. My suggestion is to eat and drink things that will keep you regular and keep it somewhat loose. It is bad enough with all that we go through, and avoiding hemorrhoids would be in your best interest.

Whatever you do, don't worry about having your baby in the toilet. For first time moms, the average time you are in labor (and you'll know you are in labor) is about 13 hours.

Good luck.

Why would you want to sit on the toilet any longer than you have to? Do your business and get up.

With the baby pushing downward, it's putting pressure on your rectum and you're more likely to get hemorroids. I don't recommend them.
