Once in a while - you will get great answers. More likely, you have a bunch of bored people typing anything because they are not wanting to look up an answer and are just in it to get the 2 points.
As for keeping your 9 month old up a bit later in the evenings - give her/him nap later in the day. If you do a night time bath - switch it to morning as they are relaxing. Have a cuddle, play time around 7 or 8. Read stories, sing songs - babies even at that young age look forward to tha stuff - get them on a routine now.

There are some real idiots on this site with absolutely no maturity whatsoever. Just ignore them. I missed your question the first first around. To get you baby to stay up a little later adjust the nap schedule. If baby usually goes down for afternoon nap at 2pm, try holding off until 2:30 or 3:00. Play games, sing songs, etc to entertain because baby will get cranky at first but will adjust to the new schedule in a week or so.

If you are still looking for suggestions, my friend had this very same problem with her daughter. What they did was extend each night by 2 minutes to 5 minutes by playing a quiet game, reading a few extra books or singing calming songs. Each night they stretched it out by these small increments and were able to get their daughter to stay up around 45 minutes to an hour later. Hope this helps, as I don't know exactly how long you are looking to stretch the bedtime out. Good luck!

I've noticed that a lot of people do make stupid comments. I hope you were able to get some help with your questions. If you post a question I'll try to help.

As far as getting your baby to stay up a little later in the evening...try making nap time a little later.

If you are here for real answers, my friend, you have come to the wrong place. I was horrified by that at first, but now I feel I have an anonymous outlet to be foolish and silly. You should direct serious questions to a more important site, one that specializes in exactly what you're asking about. Like a professional? A doctor maybe about your baby?

There are some people who take these questions seriously and try to come up with useful answers. (Regrettably, there are a lot that don't.) As for your child, my experience is that most parents of young children are, by the end of the day, happy to put the kid to bed because they're tired. But if you want to keep yours up a bit longer, (a) play with the baby for a while, and (b) survive until the kid gets to be a bit older.

** In regards to getting your 9 month old to stay up longer**
I have a 1yr old and my key to getting her to stay up later was to play wth her. I take my daughter outside for walks and it helps having that I have a 6 yr old daughter that keeps her entertained. My daughter stays up until 11pm now. Find something she really like play with that for a while. Toys that make noise help keep her entertained also. Good luck, you just have to find something that works for you child.

The answer to this question: I don't think there is a place. Every child is different and you have to find what works for yours.

If you want serious answers consult your child's pediatrician; that person will have your child's best interest in mind. As a responsible parent concerned about their child you should'nt be consulting the non medical yahoo answer people any way. It's like going to a circus clown when your child is sick, it's not the person to ask.

First of all, I looked back at the answer AmmasMon gave and he was voted as best answer. You did not get unintelligent answers - I read them. Every once in a while you ARE going to get stupid answers. AmmasMon is right - babies do need their sleep. I am a mother and a grandmother.

I often go to www.allexperts.com . It is a website that has professionals from all aspects of life. ie Medical, Law, Plumbing, Nanny's . You name it they are there.
I hope this helps. It's hard being a new mom and even harder if no one takes your questions seriously.

God bless you and your little one.
