Definitely move to the Shenandoah Valley. Augusta Co., Rockingham Co., and all the cities within the two have really good school systems. I currently teach in Augusta Co. and the pay is way above the cost of living. I managed to mostly support both my husband and myself my first year of teaching while he finished college. Plus, it's really pretty and you're about 2 hours from D.C. and Richmond.

I recommend Norfolk, VA. I lived there for 5 years and I really liked it. Or any of the hampton roads cities: Hampton, Newport News or Chesapeake. Also Richmond is nice too.
