It depends on what you mean the most brutal? If we look at something like the Roman conquest of Isreal-- where thousands died in a single night and the temple was burned to the ground-- that would be extremly brutal. The conquest of India eventually lead to an integration of the Muslim population where as the Romans were thrown out.
The reason I think this maybe, however, because of the timeline of events. The invasion of India has had enough time to evolve into ledgendary numbers (like that fish story that keeps getting bigger and bigger) and the Roman conquest not nearly so. Also it happened in Western Europe, or which most people know far more about then S.E. Asian History.
I would contest that the Roman conquest was one of the more brutal, more brutal then the Muslim conquest of India.

Well it certainly was not the most brutal conquest in history....
The Mongols could probably take credit for that. Plus I presume that by mughal conquest u mean the invasion of Babur.. cause that certainly as not brutal when compared to other invaders of india like the Mahmud of Ghazni or Timurlane

no....it was not really a conquest i the real sense of the word. It was a very gradual process. the first mughal(that's how we write 'mogul' in india) emperor Babur fought against the kings of northern india and established the mughal rule. The whole of india did not come under the mughal rule till after 2 generations later under the rule of Akbar the great(grandson of babur).

It could have been. The problem is that most of the history that we read in school came from a particular school of thought (the Communist school). So, history is politically correct and no invader was shown as cruel.

I know you just want to hear a yes so you can feed more poison to your biases. I hope you find a better short-cut to hell than having to feed your biases and spread injustice and misery. for helpless Muslims, or Moslems as you choose to pronounce.
