Almost everyone but if is only home use I strongly recommend do buy a PC
Why
1st You can get a better performance for the money that you are going to spend.
2nd if you choose the right configuration you can upgrade more simple and extend the life of you r computer
3rd you get a more attractive working environment
The laptops are good if you travel a lot or if you needed to work and if this is your case
I recommend to buy a small one don’t go with this large monitors they are not plane friendly believe my

Its sort of like asking what sort of tooth brush is good for you, it depends on what you want to do on it, how much you have to spend and how portable it really needs to be. Yes you can get very light weight laptops or ones that are heavy and are really made to be desktop replacements.
I personally have several, a Toshiba, an Acer, a Dell and an IBM and I like the Acer the best because it runs the best, it does everything without playing up and it has plenty of space and speed.

Personally I like Toshiba. I own a Toshiba laptop, has never broken down on me. Occasional software problem, no hardware problem at all.
My company provide Toshiba laptops for office uses too, the customer service and support are really good. Borken down laptops are always fixed by Toshiba.

I bought a Compaq a couple years back for around $600 I think. Mine only has a Celeron processor but for web surfing, and other basic tasks it is great. Came with built in wireless card and a DVD-ROM / CD-RW. I have had no problems so far.
