According to the Encyclopedia of Faeries...A Urisk or Ourisks are Scottish fairies that haunt pools, waterfalls, and woodland. They are very, very ugly with wrinkled skin, misshapen heads, and hairy patches and duck feathers on their backs and necks. Others say they are half human and half goat in appearance and work like brownies about the house and farm. Yet again, others say that they have yellow hair and blue bonnet and walk with the aid of a long staff. They look so frightening that some people have been frightened to death by their appearance; and humans generally run from them, though urisks would like to be friendly, as they are lonely.
