The Dallas Cowboys are recognized the most in the world, won 5 Super Bowl titles, 8 NFC championships, and are comparable to the Yankees in terms of football's "modern era" (post 1967). In terms of marketing, their helmets, uniforms, and cheerleaders are world famous.
If you define best football team by multiple factors like championships, playoff appearances, revenue, advertising and cheerleaders/community interaction, it's Dallas hands-down.

The Green Bay Packers
They have won 12 championships, more than any other team.
Any person who says Steelers or Cowboys are better than the Packers, they are wrong, because those teams have won more Super Bowls. The Packers havn't won as many Super Bowls because they first started calling it a Super Bowl in the 1968 season. But that was actually for super bowl 3. What a lot of people don't know is that the first two super bowls, which the Packers won, were actually called the AFL NFL Championship game. The Packers have won mare championships and it will stay that way for a long time.

If we go by the one season then I would have to say the '72 Dolphins for being the only team that could go undefeated all season. If we are going by the TEAM then I say the Steelers but that is because I am a fan of them. Admittedly it took them about 40 years to get great about still.
To the one who said the 49ers were the first real Dynasty why did the Steelers win 4 Superbowls in 6 years in the 70's. How is that NOT a dynasty? That was BEFORE the 49ers Dynasty.

My Detroit Lions of course! LOL! Just kidding. The best football team of all time to me would be either the Green Bay Packers, the Dallas Cowboys, the Pittsburgh Steelers, or the SanFrancisco 49ers. You could make a valid argument for each of those teams, as all have won multiple championships yet have suffered numerous losing seasons as well. If you ask me (which you did), I say it's a tie between the four.

I don't like too much this best ever stuff, to really determine it we will have to take in consideration the level of the league from all these years, the number of opponents, and so on ... for me though it will have to be a team that played well the past 20 years, and nothing before as the league is only getting tougher every year. The Yanks looks like an easy choice not only that they have won a quite a lot in the past two decades, they haven't missd th play offs and they reached the world series a lot too, in football, with what they did the past decade, the 49ers are completely out in my opinion, Dallas I don't know, but one more ring before 2010 will make the Pat a good call, two will make them the best .... anyway as I said it is a tough call, that will require a lot of work to be fair.

3 teams are tied for the most Super Bowl Championships, each with 5:
- Dallas Cowboys
- Pittsburgh Steelers
- San Francisco 49ers
I think the ownership of the Rooney family, the number of HOF players, and great fans give the Steelers the edge.
