I am level 39, Destruction skill is 43. My max magicka is 174. However, when you look at the spell, under the lightning icon, it reads 2980, way higher than my limit of 174! When I level up my Destruction skill, this 2980 number only decreases by about 40 points. Does it decrease further when you hit Journeyman, Expert, and Master level?

Ive been trying to figure that out myself. The only thing I can think of is making a whole suit and rings/amulet that has a fortify destruction. Even then, Im not sure its enough. Im still trying to get enough grand soul gems to try it..BTW, the game is Oblivion..

Ah thought so. Lvl 39 and still destruction only 43? You can try to cahnge your starsighn to Astranarc...you then get +magika. And rather get into the arcane university with the Mages Guild so that you can make your own spells!!
