the only way know for you to make free computer to landline phone calls is to use your computer sign up for www.internetcalls.com they offer free calls outgoing calls to many different countries. so far no catch as i have not given out any credit card info, and if you want people to be able to call you, sign up for stanaphone www.stanaphone.com they will give you a free incomming usa number from which your friends can call this usa number and it will ring your computer no matter where u are in the world as long as your computer is on and connected

You can get your family or whoever it is to have a video conference via yahoo messenger, you just need their yahoo name , or you can do the same with msn messenger and trillian etc etc. As for making free phone calls that will allow you to do this I think the only way you can do that is with an app like skype.
With things as they are, finding free access to the sort of things you are looking for is becoming harder and harder every single day.
