When I was 5 months pregnant with my son, I had an allergic reaction to a shampoo that I use before I was pregnant and up until that point in which case I then had an allergic reaction. It caused me to be allergic to the hormones that I was producing while I was pregnant. It looked and felt like poison ivy from head to toe. It itched really bad. It was gone within an hour after I had my son except for the scars. I was just wondering how common it was. I'm now pregnant with my second son and i'm 30 weeks and nothing like that has happened again. And I have REALLY sensitive skin now.

I did. It was horrible, I was breaking out all during my pregnancy and for months after. It was so itchy and unpleasant and I had to start using Cetaphil, which is a really great soap, even though it's $4.00 a bar, but I don't break out anymore. I had to start using perfum and dye free laundry detergent, stop using fabric softeners and if I touch certain things, that have yet to be identified, my fingers will swell and itch. Also every once in a while my throat will swell, I still haven't been able to point out what that is either. Pregnancy really messed me up, lol, but it was well worth it to get my little girl.

I have heard of this happening and in severe cases the women have to have the baby early. Some women are actually poisoned by thier babies. Someone else on here had a rash.

Well, I do know some people who suffered from this problem. Even my wife suffered from the same. It was gone the moment my son was born. It was the same with her sister. But there are others who never had this problem. So, itmust depend upon case to case.

there is an amazing product called Pinxav that is a miracle product for rashes. They have a web site, check it out. You'll love this stuff. NBC's Today show is featuring it this friday for a segment on great summer products. Daily Candy is also writing about them this Friday.

I never had it that bad, but I seem to get weird rashes that just show up then go away. It's very common to what my sister and mom get, who have chronic eczema problems. Our main eczema rash (there's one non-itchy one in particular that we all have in common) only seems to show up for me during pregnancy, and didn't go away after the last one. It started getting more of it this pregnancy too.
