For me, dogs..but for someone else it might be cats, or both.. I am sick of all the neighborhood cats defecating all in my flower beds and my lawn...Makes me mad when people just let their cats do whatever they want.. Mine never leaves the property!

PS: umm... no potty training issues with cats? Try again! I know lots of people with cats and their houses smell like cat pee so bad I cannot breathe.. Their cats go on the carpets, on plants, in bath tubs! You name it..

I'm a "dog person" and I have two of them. I had a cat once and he was very sweet - but so independent I could almost forget he was there.

Dogs take A LOT more care than cats, so if you have time, energy for walking and playing with them, money for the vet bills, and a dog-sitter (I don't recommend boarding - it's very stressful for pampered dogs), than a dog is a better pet.

A cat can pretty much be left home alone for a day or two with a clean litter box, plenty of food and clean water, but a dog needs a lot of care. The rewards far outweigh the cost and time needed to care for a dog. They are wonderful companions and give unconditional love - ALWAYS.

Bottom line, though. Make sure you are committed. You adopt a pet, you care for it for its entire life. For most dogs that's 12 - 15 years, cats live a long time. Mine was 17 when he died.

It depends who the owner is. If you're more laid back and just want an animal that will sit on your lap and let you pet it, a cat would be better. If you're a more active person and want to play with your pet a lot, a dog would be better. Or you could be like me and have both.

it depends what you want... if you have a family a dog would be much more fun.

A Cat is a pet that needs more care than a dog and has its own mind... a dog can be trained but a cat????

i prefere to have a cat and a dog

Both are great for different reasons. Cats are MUCH easier to care for and can be left home alone for longer periods of time - no housetraining issues and can be very affectionate. Dogs are more active - require more attention but also give back more attention. Dogs are more likely to play and romp with a family.I have 1 cat and 4 dogs - wouldn't trade any of them (also have a duck, rabbit, and fish).

Dogs without question. For me, cats just doesn't seem to be as good as dogs for pets.

I would say depending on what type of life you have,

A cat would prefer someone who can be inside with them nearly 24 / 7
A dog will also want there own free time too , so if u work , then a dog would b better

It depends on what your looking for. A dog is a good choice if you are looking for something to play with alot, if you enjoy taking them for walks, and if you don't mind listening to barking.
A cat is a good choice if you'd rather have something that's more independent, but you can still play with them, you don't have to worry about walking them, and they are usually alot quieter than dogs.

well i don't know because i LOVE cats and i LOVE dogs. cats are smarter and cleaner than dogs...but dogs are more social than cats. cats love NO ONE. and dogs love everyone. BUT cats are cleaner and you don't have to worry about taking them out like dogs. so i don't know which ones are better.
