GardeningGurl has some good suggestions--the one I *think* she couldn't think of by B. Kingsolver is The Poisonwood Bible--a good book club pick.

My book club started with everyone making a list of 10, which became a random master list. As we read things individually and like them, they get added to the bottom of the list. Some recent reads that sparked good conversation: The Kite Runner, The Time Traveler's Wife, and Madame Bovary.

Shiver/Linger - a mystical romance between a werewolf and a human woman. it is style of cheesy, yet no longer too over-the-precise, and has some rather exciting twists that have a tendency to throw you off look after. that's a lovable study, I enjoyed it. i've got not relatively study many solid books this 365 days, so because it relatively is all I have been given. I propose googling precise ten youthful person books and staring at your suggestions there. desire this facilitates :)

I suggest each person picks their favorite book or the one they think others would like best, and each week they read another person's book. This works in groups of friends because they often have similar tastes.

Try Middlesex by Eugenides Jeffries. It's a beautiful and intriguing story that has richness and depth of character, but is not a snooze fest.

Also, if you want a heavy, but spectacular read try Anne Marie MacDonald's Fall on Your Knees.
