~If science is the only form of life, and there is no God, then how and why would the soul exhist? If there is no soul there is nowhere for it to go after death, nor is there a reason for it. "PTL" ;^)

If I believed there was no God it would be very easy to explain where the soul goes after death. Think of a light bulb - once all energy is gone there is no more life in the bulb. Or think of how a person can be put on a life giving machine even after the person has technically died, when the plug is finally unplugged life is gone. The soul goes nowhere once the life is gone.

Carpe diem. Sieze the day. Someone else asked if the universe can not violate symmetry and anti-matter exists, where is the anti-universe? The answers were not convincing. Maybe the anti-universe does exist somewhere and can be found by entering a black hole such as the one at the center of the Milky Way galaxy (our own). Mysticism is always a step ahead of science, no matter how well science tries to answer all the questions. So there will always be a need for religion and its dogma claiming the existence of a mysterious presence in the universe that is not understandable by means of our human intelligence.

Your question assumes the presence of a soul without the existance of God.

For the sake of arguement, let's suppose this is true.

As a human being you are made up of the billions of cells of your body. Your brain is a complex matrix of proteins and energy pathways akin to, but far more complex than computer software.

Your body continually wears out cells and replaces them. If you lose a limb, you do not cease being "You", therefore it is reasonable to assume that this energy field of personality is not diminished or lost with body loss or replacement.

Your body now is not the body you were born with, and yet your identity remains intact.

Something survives that is you, but not tied to the physicality of your being. near death experiences suggest its existance as well.

You can choose to call this fragile whisp of energy your soul, spirit, chakra or "Enjoy".

It is not a very strong energy field, however, and the death of your body will certain force its ultimate dissolvement into the riot of other energies surrounding and permeating the world.

Energy is neither lost or created in the universe, but it can change wavelengths, and it can combine with other energy.

But the energy that is you has a finite period, it is not immortal. It may survive minutes, perhaps years if you believe in ghosts, (I do not) but even the oldest repoted ghosts fade away after a few centuries.

So even if you believe in soul without deity, there is no immortality.

Interesting question. Amazing that the answers I read are only opinions. There has been research on measuring the weight of a dying individual to see if there is a weight diff. upon death. Amazingly there was an immediate weight loss - however minuet - within seconds of last breath. It was a very sensitive scale. For those who don't believer in after life I say this: "If your right, you have nothing to worry about. If your wrong, you have much to worry about. But then - it will be to late - won't it?"

I am not sure what you mean by scientific life, but my own personal view is that there is no soul. I may not be in scientific life, but I am getting my PHD in mathematics and am highly educated in most of the sciences even if I am not directly in the field. It is my understanding that atleast among some of my peers that they agree with me and that there is no soul.

One must try to put the two together and look at things from many different angles in order to come to an understanding about how science and religion works to make it right in everyone's mind. The soul goes to the other side camp where you can enjoy the things you could not while you were in you were in your body. it is all relevant.

Well if there is no god in scientific life I propose there is no such thing a soul hence it doesn't go anywhere because it was never there to begin with.

The soul is understanding and if you lose understanding then you have lost your soul. God is a harmonic collection of souls both living and dead in case dead people understand and when dead people don,t understand they do it with the help of those living
