I am going to school for mechanical engineering in Michigan, I am currently working for an engineering firm making about $35,000/year, I am going back to school at 25 with a mortgage, car, wife, 2 dogs, etc. I cannot work my school schedule around my work schedule, so I need to find something else.

i hate to burst your bubble but that's not gonna happen if you dont have a skill. and since youre asking what type of work you should do im assuming you dont have a skill.

youre gonna want a third shift job if youre smart. that way you can go to day or evening classes. so a factory is probably youre best choice.

some other options are the military or going to a trade school for a few months so that you can have a trade and earn decent money while in school.

the national guard pays about $1000 to veterans (around $700 non-vets) each month you are in school. Plus they pay for 100% of your tuition.

i went out and got my CDL. you could go to school for a month or so and get that and then youll be able to find a local job that pays around $10-$14/hr with no exp... IF you have a relatively clean driving record.

One last thing. Are you going to be renting? Maybe you should considor buying a duplex? That way you are paying yourself instead of just throwing your money away. Plus you will earn some income from your tenants.

Without a skill.... you are not going to make that kind of money. So either get realisitc or find another way.

Go for something in your field of study! It will lead to better connections after college. You may not make 1750 right away but after 3-6 months working you will get a raise! Ideas--Education-big site childcare center (Kindercare for example), Food service--waiter/waitress, Business-bartender, Science-internships, Political Science--campaign aid, local government aid.

Too many kids get caught up in wanting to be able to live nicely now and forfeit the better bucks later. Get a roommate! Don't eat out! Never scrimp on childcare though!!! But many univerisites have very affordable chidcare centers though.

I worked a customer service at a call center job. You sit at a desk and most companies will let you work on your homework between classes. Try cell phone companies, ISP's, Online stores etc.
