The reserves are there for emergency situations, only. It acts as a buffer in the event we get cut off from our normal sources.
If we used up the reserves, we'd really be up Sh_t's creek without a paddle, so to speak.

The strategic oil reserves are intended to support themilitary, and themiltary only, if the oil flow is cut off.

We are paying so much at the pump do to price speculation. The oil companies are also making record profits every quarter because they are not regualted and are in effect monopolies, and they can charge whatever they want.

if we diped in to the oil reserve what would we do if the oil stop comeing to us from other countries just because the price gets high doesnt mean we need to tap the reserve
