If the main goal of this exercise is to show your English language skills then I recommend staying away from both difficult and contraversial topics. The reason is that you don't want the testers to be focused on your particular opinions with which they may disagree. Instead, you want them to focus on your English. You also want your own focus to be on your language skills not on the deep substance of your topic.

Some possibilities:
Explaining how something works (if you have an area of expertise - whether professional or something of a hobby -it may be fun to explain how that thing works)
Explaining something about another country or culture (presumably if you're improving your English it is because you have background in another language and culture and you could talk about some aspect of that)
Explaining a holiday
Describing an interesting event you have participated in and why someone else may want to take part in it in the future
Talking about why it is helpful to improve one's English

Talk about something you know,or that you are interested in. Being really familiar with the topic will make the presentation easier.

If you want tough topics try:
the real reason the US invaded Iraq
why do the facts not support al Queda involvement in 911
why should we feed people in poverty who can not control their overbreeding, therfore ensuring the cycle continues

I see that the in no way ending saga of D.B. Cooper is going on! products of what's assumed to be D.B's chute are believed to were uncovered in Wahsington state. i'd do a short search for of DB's historic previous with the FBI etc. it will be a ruin from the Presedential race insurance & the b-ball rankings!
