If you were serious, I'd say that you were a member of the KKK mainly because of the crass ignorance implied in your question.

But at least, your humorous question made me laugh. By the way, nice avatar, too. :)

Dude, "white folks" originated in the region of what today is southern Russia, near the Caucus mountains---that's why we're called "Caucasians". They migrated south into Mesopotamia and (for better or worse) initiated intensive agriculture which ended up with them founding the first city-states that eventually became ancient Sumer. We've sort of been spreading out ever since.

As to North America, it's currently unclear who the "first" Americans really were. The various "Indian tribes" have been assumed for a long time to be the descendants of Siberian-Asians who crossed a land bridge during the last glacial maximum, but that's fallen into question. New data suggests that a sea-going people (or peoples) began arriving even earlier--some of these appear to be related to the Ainu people of ancient Japan (who are NOT the same ethnicity as modern Japanese). Also, it seems now that people arrived in North America in waves over time, not in one big migration. There is even one hypothesis out there (based on scant tool fragments and some preliminary DNA studies) that a few ice-age Europeans ( who are called "Magdalenians") may have reached the new world from across the Atlantic. This is still pretty speculative and rather controversial---we'll have to wait for more studies to be completed)

The only native Americans where the people of the indian tribes, which the white folk almost eliminated when they arrived in America. America was a colony and white folk are descedants of Europeans which colonized the continent. Same thing stands for Australia and New Zealand.

Of course any person born in the Americas is a native American. The word "native" by itself is clear enough.
Yet, quite some time ago, a need was felt to distinguish American Indians and many names were proposed and tried out, like for instance "Amerindian". Somehow "native American" rolls off the tongue better and it has become stuck in the language.
It´s really not that important (as Shakespeare said: What´s in a name?) so don´t be offended and if you are born in America, enjoy being a true American!

I consider myself Native American. I belong to the Choctaw tribe. All I can say is a long long time ago the white man drove away the Indians. Perhaps out of fear. Dunno. I don't find it astounding that white folks are not native to America tho. That is to say I don't find your question astounding at all.

The Native Americans (like myself) were here first. We had reservations. Then we had folks like Lief Erickson and Christopher Columbus showing up on the doorstep and soon it was 'there goes the neighborhood'. Talk about your illegal immigrants back then...oi vey!

Why would we be??? No people are "native" to the Americas - they all migrated here, even the Indians in North, Central and South America.

Does your question actually have a purpose? Are you alluding to the illegal alien invasion?
