You can't. It is hidden behind the ISPs firewall for privacy and security reasons. And if you could, the number would be meaningless as most ISPs change your IP address everytime you log on to the Internet.

I'm afraid Y! Messenger contacts via TCP that you can only see IP of Yahoo Service in your firewall trafic logs. Maybe you can try to send a file to him, that is using UDP, and check IP log in your firewall. But I'm afraid you can only see their LAN's IP Address.

By the way, you can ask their LAN Administrator their details via his Network Card's ID.

ask him to send you an email from his yahoo account, and when you receive that email, you will find his IP in the email header (to full see the email header go Options > General Preferances > Messages and hit Shou all headers on incoming mails, than rechech the eamil and se the IP in "From")

sending him a file via chat session, that's the best way of getting his IP.
Any info above that would be termed as hacking, which I cannot provide.
