I have had 3 normal births and 2 c-section. The c-sections were harder as your recovery takes a lot longer. My son is now 8 mths and i have still not recovered fully!!

Geographic location might have alot to do with the final decision, and also, ethnic background and where you are in the world? Do you reside in the UK? Free NHS! Might religion not play a part? Does one really have a choice, does the doctor not have the final say babes?

Oh, the qustion! Right. Fashion, yes, I hear C-Section is all the rage these days! Bloody painful, cripes? Safer, well C-Section if done correctly and mother follows protocol post-birth. Vaginal birth, isn't that old hat darling? No, I don't want five brfats babes, but isn't that all the rage in little Britain? Darling, well I never!Fashion babes! UP2U.

Well, I think both depends on the situation one finds herself but I believe that the vaginal birth is safer and less painful. Most women opted for ceasarean on the advice of their drs but drs are not right all the time 'cos they are not God. When I was about having my 1st child 5 yrs ago, my dr suggested cs due to the fact that the baby was breech coupled with my small stature and age that was not on my side but all glory to God, I had my baby hale and hearty in a faith home with a midwife attending to me despite the fact that the baby came with her leg first. What I will advice is that you seek counsel from yr dr, commit everything to the hand of God and let God directs you. If you know that your faith cannot carry you through the vaginal birth, it is better you go for the ceasarean.

I had a c-section when my daughter was born. They examined me and said "I see the baby's head coming" As it turned out it wasn't the baby's head that they saw coming....I was in back labor for 7hrs before they realized she was coming BUTT first instead of head first.
She's the only one I ever had but I can see where a section would be quicker but for years I felt I didn't really give birth to my daughter. I got over it. I don't see why eihter one would be safer than the other unless there were a problem with the baby.
A vaginal delivery would be painful while you are in labor but then it's over. With a c-section you will be sore for a few days. It is major surgery.

I've also heard that because of the liability in it, many Drs wouldn't do section. Then I hear that because of the liability that many Dr's prefer secitons. ????

You get all kinds of stories.

I had a C-section and it was awful, I couldn't hardly move the first few days but they got me up, I felt like I was going to pass out because of the pain. And then when you go home, it takes up to 6 weeks to completely heal and sometimes my scar still today hurt and my baby is almost 2. I would tell someone to have the vaginal birth if all possible.

I had to have an c'section my baby was breach and i was at 10cm and i can remember being scared as they were taking me back and giving me my epidural. Then when it was all done, and i Finlay got to go home i was stuck sitting in my recliner for weeks and weeks because i was not aloud to do a lot of things. Also with a c'section there are many things that can go wrong. You have to think when they cut you they have to cut thru all the muscles in your stomach and then stitch they back up. It is a lot of recovery and a lot of pain. It is hard to sit up in bed and walk up stairs. It is even hard to hold your baby because every time they move they hit the area where you are sore and it makes it hurt more. My c'section was over a year ago and every once in a while I still get a sharp pain for a second or so where the nervers are damnaged. Now i have a scar where they had to cut me and i will always have the scar. I don't mean to scare you with all this but it is what i went thru. It might of been harder for me then others because i was getting up every day and doing more moving and this then i should have been doing. I had to get up evreyday and go to the hospital to see my baby girl because she was very ill. i was worried more about spending time with her then i was about letting my self heal. At the time that was not a the best idea for my self but i am glad i did what i did because i lost my baby at 5 weeks old. If i had it to do all over again i would do the same thing. I hope my story helps you make up your mind as to what way you want to go. Best of luck to you

Do not go for the ceserean. The risks for infection
and death are manifold. Vaginal birth is the
way Nature intended. Ceserean should only be used
when the mother or childs life is in danger. I almost
died from my ceserean...I wont go into detail
because it is a horrific story. I very much hate doctors
to this day because of their carelessness. My daughter
would not have a mother.

They are also realy good at turning normal
child births into "complicated" and "emergency" ones.
Like they did to me.

Go Vaginal, and get a hold of a Midwife
THEY actually know what they are doing and
you and your baby have a much better chance
for comming out of it alive and well.

good luck to you and congrats
if you are pregnant.

Initially, a c-section is obviously less painful but the recovery period is a lot longer & very painful. C-section should not be an option unless absolutely necessary. For some reason there seems to be a growing trend for it these days & I personally would never choose to have a c-section.

C sections are only done if necessary, it won't be performed as an option. It can be hazardous to both the mother and baby. Therefore you will give birth the way the doctor recommends.
