being gay is not an illness... therefore there can be no symptoms. However, the best way to find out if someone is gay, is just to ask... try to be diplomatic about it, don't be rude and just ask 'Are you gay?' cause it'll hurt the person, but if he's your friend and he's not out of the closet yet, he should feel quite comfortable telling you.

You should never try to figure out someones sexual preference. If he was a close enough friend I would just ask him. It beats assuming and making an asss of yourself.

Not to be rude and please don't take this personally, they seem to form a strange kind of walk. You can also tell if they are gay by the way they talk and the clothes they wear.But how they act is one thing to.

I think that you can tell by his behavior and the people he hangs out with; but then, he can be a closet case. Your friend can be friendly but then if he crosses the line and you are not interested, tell him directly.

well that does not meen he is gay ,could mean he is lonely and considers you a friend, dose he look at men?
