Hi Piffle, I answered the question you also answered with a statement about not being mindless killers. Please go back and read my answer. I spent the last hour editing it. I agree you are not mindless and given what's going on right now in Lebanon its not surprising that there are so many questions. The world is trying to understand Israeli reaction. Also I just turned on the TV at random here at home (New Zealand - Midnight Friday our time) and they are showing a documentary about the Munich Olympics Massacre. I was 6 at the time, its the first Olympics I remember, the events at Munich had a huge effect on me. They called them the Olympics of Serenity up until that day.

As a six year old I was a big fan of Mark Spitz who was on his way to a record breaking medal haul. I could not understand why he had to go home as he was not Israeli, I couldn't understand why people wanted to kill Israelis, I couldn't understand why people hated Jews. I am now 40 and understand a great deal more and even though from the outside I can see both sides of the argument, I will never forgive those Terrorists for ruining my first Olympics and robbing my innocence and wonder. I was completely traumatised by this event. A short time later I was sitting between my parents on a journey to see relatives three hours away and I looked up at my Dad (remember I was 6) and I said, "Dad, people are evil aren't they?" He said "That's right boy." I decided then and there that I was going to be the best I could be. It was one of the three critical junctures in my life.

I just want to say this. As someone of mainly Irish Catholic descent I have genetic memories of genocide too and it enrages me sometimes. It happened more then the British hegemony cares to admit. My Grandmother was English so I know the other side of it too. But I have to hold myself and not retaliate to either because I wish to live and let others live. Shalom and Slainte to you and also Kia Ora ( in my other mother tongue "may you have life")

They are just showing an interview with Schlomit Romano, she is so beautiful and its very sad. She only knows her father from other peoples' stories.
