Right now I use a Gibson Les Paul Menace,

However feel it is a brute, very heavy and cumbersom

Would you recommend using a Gibson Les Paul Junior?

Try switching over to a Fender Strat.

That's the one I use and, while it's not the lightest guitar there is, it's not too heavy and it can take a fair pounding before anything goes seriously wrong with it.

But Gibson do make the bast strings (aside from Rickenbaker, but you can't get them in England).

I would recomend going to a local guitar center and trying on guitars and playing them. Yes, the Gibson Les Paul Junior is lighter in weight, but its made for well........a junior. You dont have to switch Guitars, just get used to it. I thought my Les Paul was heavy, and i still do, but i just got the strap that goes around my neck, and it works great and the weight doesn't bother me.

I only work on colours.
I only got my bass guitar because it is pink.
Yeah I'm shallow.
