Literally, in english it means 'reply if it pleases you'

It's French and says respondez s'il vous plait (RSVP). In English it is basically saying please reply to this invitation.

The correct spelling as far as I know is;- Re(with an acute accent over the e (my keyboard doesn't have one!)) pondez s'il vous plait How's that?!
