Of course you can! Its never too late! Go for it. When I started violin at age 11, I thought it was too late as well, but its going pretty well for me! (11 and 14 are ONLY 3 years apart), know I am 13. Theres nothing to loose. Someday, when your like 30 or something, you will find 14 as a very young age to be starting something like ballet.

Yes--and go to a good ballet school. They will evaluate your turn out and determine what program would be best for you. The plus side of starting a little later is that you will understand more of what they expect you to do to grown quickly in this discipline. Starting at two years of age doesn't count for all that much--it's mostly play dance in those younger years. Nornally serious ballet study starts at age 10. But there have been famous dancers who started later.

Sure you can start ballet now!
I actually started at age 15, and started pointe about 6 months later. Of course, I wasn't trying to be a professional ballerina, but ballet is good for your posture, and breathing, and the way you present yourself gracefully. I was doing ballet to help with my theatre career...being able to dance in musicals and stuff. But no matter why you do it, it is always a good fun thing to do, especially at your age and through high school!
It might make you very sore at first! But it will all be good! Go for it, and don't let anyone discourage your dreams!

I started ballet when I was 18 and loved it. It really doesn't matter what age you start. If you do want to become a professional ballerina you're going to have to work very hard since you did start at 14, but that's doesn't mean you can't do it! Go for it girl!

don't listen to your friend she doesn't know what she's talking about! i started when i was about 7, quit, and then started again very recently (13 yrs) and am now working at my grade 6!! ballet is completely based on potential and how hard you are willing to work- the talent comes with that. and also- when you are a teenager, this is the best time to start ballet anyway as your body is developing. good luck and i hope it all goes well! luv helly xx

I've personaly known people who have started really young, like your friend has, so why couldn't you start at 14?! Some actors/actresses are todlers, and even newborns! Your friend is probably jealous. They probably just don't want you to be better than them. Studies show that, this applys to most people, the earlier age anyone starts anything, the better they will be! So don't wait too long! Hey for all you know, you could be a natural born dancer and be better than they are.

YES you can! I have a friend whose daughter started ballet in high school and she is now a Sr and auditioning for the Rocketts! It will take hard work and time just like anything else that you want to be good at, but don't get discouraged and don't let others tell you, you can't do it!
Good luck

You can start at ANY age. Ballet is a wonderful art. Work with your Mom to check around your area to see what studios offer beginners classes for teens.

i in my view quite imagine of you're waiting to wish to proceed dancing. yet probably communicate on your instructor about dancing 2 or 3 days each and each and every week. via reality then probably you'll probably have the potential to do pointe. As you change into previous you'll probably get better proper in case you should seize on quite speedy. i tips that you practice at living house probably on your room or someplace the position you've a awesome sort of room to practice. If the coach has been training ballet for 17 years then she'll probably understand your mission and help you to do pointe after a pair of years of ballet. Being in corporation isn't all that particular pondering that you're waiting to wish to lead sparkling of to competitions and its quite in reality for dancers which have continually been extreme. in reality follow what you quite pick and thats all that concerns. i want i grew to change into into some help to you!!! =]
